This gasket set is located at the front of the engine, sealing the timing cover to the engine block. It provides a critical seal to prevent engine oil and coolant from leaking. For any 4x4 owner, maintaining a leak-free engine is paramount for reliability. Over time, original gaskets can harden, become brittle, and fail, leading to leaks that can compromise engine performance and health, especially in demanding off-road environments.
Ignoring a leaking timing cover can lead to significant oil or coolant loss. This can cause engine overheating, contamination of other engine components like belts, and, in severe cases, oil starvation which can result in catastrophic engine damage. A simple leak can quickly escalate into a very expensive repair.
This kit is all the gaskets, seals and Orings to re-fit the timing cover on a factory turbo / turbo intercooled GU TD42 engine and comes with the lower thermostat housing bolts.
It comes with everything shown in the photo.
If fitted to the factory turbo intercooled engine, you will not require the tacho sensor gasket that comes in this kit.
Please note there is a different kit for the Early GQ TD42 engine with the vacuum pump on the back of the alternator, and another kit for the Late GQ TD42 engine and GU N/A TD42 engine with the vacuum pump on the timing cover.
