Common Faults with the throttle cable can be

1. stretching and running out of adjustment
2. fraying or sticking internally causing a firm or sticking throttle 
3. in extreme cases the cable can break

If you have any of these symptoms its best to disconnect the throttle cable so you can isolate the issue and replace if the fault is in the cable, as any of these issues can lead to a very bad situation.

These are a High Quality SBK Japanese Replacement cable, they are a direct bolt in for the factory cable, However just like the genuine they need to be adjusted once installed so they have the correct open and closed length for your vehicles throttle.

Make sure the cable has a small amount of free play when the throttle is closed, you don't want the cable to be holding your throttle open, don't use your throttle cable to set your idle speed.

Once adjusted correctly lock the cable in place and it should not need further adjustment.
