When you lift your Patrol, the original factory-length sway bar links become too short. This pulls the sway bar down, putting it at an incorrect angle which pre-loads the suspension and restricts its movement. An extended sway bar link corrects this geometry, allowing the sway bar to function as intended for optimal handling and suspension articulation.
If you fail to upgrade to extended links on a lifted vehicle, you may experience poor on-road handling, excessive body roll in corners, and significantly reduced suspension travel (flex) when off-roading. The constant strain can also lead to premature failure of the sway bar link itself, potentially causing it to bend or break.
