This 90-degree oxygen sensor restrictor is designed to be fitted into the exhaust system bung for the post-catalytic converter (downstream) oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor is then screwed into this restrictor, effectively spacing it out from the direct flow of exhaust gases.
This component is commonly required when fitting aftermarket high-flow catalytic converters or de-cat pipes. These modifications can alter the exhaust gas readings, causing the vehicle's ECU to detect a fault with catalyst efficiency and trigger a Check Engine Light (CEL), typically with the fault code P0420. This restrictor helps to normalise the readings seen by the sensor, preventing the CEL from illuminating and ensuring the engine runs as intended.
These are used to Mimic a Catalytic convertor, so that the Oxygen sensor doesn't cause engine malfunction lights.
These can be used if you have replaced your Headers or Cats with High Flow versions
