This stub axle, or spindle, is located inside the front swivel hub assembly on your solid axle front differential. The wheel bearing hub assembly spins on this component. The original stub axle can wear on the surfaces where the wheel bearings and inner axle seal run. Damage can also happen if a wheel bearing fails, scoring the machined surfaces. A worn or damaged stub axle will cause repeated and premature failure of your wheel bearings. If not replaced, this can lead to excessive wheel play and potential wheel loss, which is a major safety risk on and off the road.
