Located within the rear brake assembly, these handbrake shoes are the core component of your vehicle's parking brake system. They press against the inside of the rear brake rotor "hat" or drum to hold the vehicle stationary.
Over time, the friction material wears down, or can become contaminated by oil from a leaking axle seal, drastically reducing the handbrake's holding power. If your handbrake lever pulls up too high, or worse, fails to hold your vehicle securely on an incline, these shoes require replacement to restore safety and performance.
If your handbrake has run out of adjustment, it's time to put a new set of brake shoes in, and make your handbrake perform like new again.
