Located in the driver's side footwell, the glow plug timer is a critical component for starting your diesel engine. This unit controls how long your glow plugs are energised to heat the combustion chamber before cranking. When the timer fails, it can either stop working completely or provide an incorrect heating duration. This leads to hard starting or a complete failure to start, especially on cold mornings, which can leave you stranded.
This is the black-cased timer, typically found on Series 2 Y61 GU Patrols and onwards. Some earlier models used a green-cased timer which is not interchangeable.
