This is the heater connector that is located around the middle of the rocker cover on the drivers side that connects the two ends of the heater hoses to the EGR system. it can become brittle with age and heat cycles, eventually cracking and leaking coolant.
If this T-piece fails, you'll end up with coolant loss, potentially leading to overheating and engine damage. Nobody wants to be stuck out in the bush with a blown head gasket!
