This genuine seal kit is used to service and repair the power steering pump, which is located at the front of the engine and driven by the accessory belt. This kit contains all the necessary seals and O-rings to stop leaks and restore the performance of your original power steering pump. It is an essential service item when you notice fluid weeping or dripping from the pump body.
Ignoring a leaking power steering pump can lead to a significant loss of hydraulic fluid. This can cause the pump to run dry, resulting in a loud whining noise, heavy or inconsistent steering, and eventual seizure of the pump. A failed pump means a complete loss of power assistance, making the vehicle difficult to steer, and will require a far more costly replacement of the entire unit.
To re-seal the pump completely you will also need a bearing part no. 6202-2RS.
NOTE: Does NOT suit GU Patrol.
The GQ Patrol Power Steering Pump body is made from cast iron whereas, the GU Patrol Power Steering Pump body is made from aluminium.
