This is the one way valve that stops your rear washer jet from dribbling down the back of your car and emptying your washer bottle when parked on a hill. On a GQ this is fitted in the right hand 1/4 Panel, behind the taillight. On a GU this is fitted inside the large Barn Door. This valve allows washer fluid to travel from the reservoir to the spray jets while preventing it from draining back down the lines once the pump is switched off. This part is often needed when you experience a delay between activating the washers and fluid spraying onto your screen.
If the check valve fails, the fluid will drain back into the bottle each time, meaning the pump has to work to re-prime the lines on every use. This delay can be frustrating and potentially hazardous if your vision is suddenly obscured and you need to clear the windscreen instantly.
