The air conditioning compressor is mounted on the lower left (passenger) side of the engine. Air compressors can fail due to age, internal wear, or damage from contaminants in the air conditioning system, and because they are mounted low, they are also prone to damage from exposure to mud, grit and other road debris.
This compressor is for a non nissan fitted air con systems. Nearly all GQ patrols entered the country with out AC so it was fitted by dealers and random aIr con shops around the country. The easiest difference is the pipes on the back. This one has 2 threaded pipe fittings where the genuine nissan ones are held by a single bolt in the centre of the pipes.
For Warranty Purposes it is required that the receiver dryer is to be replaced at the same time as the new compressor is.
When you fit this compressor, it needs to be filled with the correct quantity of oil. The compressor will fail if you don't and won't be covered by warranty.

This unit is also slightly larger in the manifold area at the back so can interfere with the engine mount on some vehicles.
