This piston ring set is a critical component located within the engine block, fitted into machined grooves on the outside of each piston. These rings form a dynamic seal between the piston and the cylinder wall.
Over time, piston rings can wear down, lose tension, or break due to the extreme heat and friction of normal engine operation. This is a complete replacement set required during an engine rebuild or when diagnosing issues like excessive oil consumption or loss of compression. This set features an updated 2mm oil ring design, specifically engineered to improve oil control, a common issue in ZD30DI engines.
NOTE: Some Direct Injection engines have a 3mm oil ring on the later 2004 Onwards models.
