This is the bypass hose that comes off the thermostat housing outlet than connects to a metal joiner which links to the throttle body and oil cooler.

Over time, rubber hoses become hard and brittle. This makes them weaker and prone to cracking, causing your vehicle to loose water and overheat. Generally if one hose goes, it is possible for others to go soon after, so it's a good idea to replace your other Radiator and heater hoses at the same time.
