This is the thin locktab that goes between the 2 nuts in the front hub and locks them together. It is a critical component for any wheel bearing service or hub rebuild.
This small but vital part is designed to be bent over the flats of the main wheel bearing nut, physically preventing it from loosening under the stress of road vibrations and wheel rotation. Because these tabs are bent into place, they are often fatigued or damaged during removal and should be replaced every time the hubs are serviced to ensure the wheel bearing pre-load setting is maintained.
