This differential carrier bearing is fitted inside the axle housing, supporting the differential carrier (or "diff centre") in place. This high-quality bearing is specifically sized for vehicles that have been fitted with an aftermarket locking differential, such as an ARB Air Locker or a Harrop E-Locker, which often require a specific bearing size. It is a crucial component for ensuring the smooth and reliable operation of your vehicle's drivetrain, especially after significant modifications.
Replacement is necessary when the original bearings become worn, noisy, or damaged, or as a mandatory part of installing a new aftermarket locker. A failing bearing can produce a distinct whining or grinding noise from the axle. If neglected, the bearing can collapse completely, causing the differential gears to misalign and resulting in catastrophic failure of the ring and pinion gears, potentially leaving you stranded and facing a very costly repair.
The inside diameter of the bearing is 50mm to suit 50mm carriers.
