This gasket is fitted between the engine block and the front timing cover on your engine. It is responsible for creating a seal to prevent engine oil from leaking out of the front of the engine where the timing chain is located.
Over time, due to constant heat cycles and age, the original gasket can become brittle, shrink, or crack, leading to oil leaks. This is a common maintenance item that is often replaced when servicing the timing chain or addressing oil leaks from the front of the engine.
