This kit is for the inner Constant Velocity (CV) joint on the rear driveshafts of a Nissan Y62 Patrol, fitting either the right-hand or left-hand side. The rubber CV boot is a critical component that protects the joint by holding in the essential lubricating grease and keeping out damaging contaminants like water, dirt, and grit. The original boots can split, tear or perish from age, heat, and off-road use.
Failing to replace a split CV boot will lead to the rapid failure of the CV joint itself. Once the grease is gone and dirt gets in, the joint will be destroyed, resulting in clunking noises and eventually a complete loss of drive. This turns a simple, inexpensive repair into a costly full driveshaft replacement.
