This crown wheel and pinion gear set is fitted inside the H233 rear differential housing of your Patrol. You might need to replace these gears if your existing ones are worn, chipped, or making a whining noise from incorrect backlash settings or poor lubrication. It's also a common and necessary upgrade when fitting larger tyres to return your vehicle's final drive ratio closer to factory specifications. Failure to replace a damaged gear set can lead to catastrophic diff failure, which can lock up your driveline and leave you stranded.
