These longer bolts are essential when you are upgrading your standard Warn High Mount winch with a more powerful, larger-casing motor, such as the popular 6HP motor from a Warn 9.5XP winch. The standard bolts are too short to safely accommodate the larger motor, making this kit a crucial component for the conversion.
If you attempt to use the original, shorter bolts for this upgrade, they will not have enough thread engagement to hold the motor securely. Under the extreme torque of a heavy recovery, these bolts could strip their threads or shear completely. This would cause the motor to detach from the winch, leading to catastrophic failure, potential damage to the gearbox and wiring, and leaving you stranded in a critical situation.
