This is the SMALL Timing Chain Guide that goes against the chain which goes to the CRANK and is on the OUTER side of the timing chain on the TENSION side. Over time, tensioners get worn. You might need this if you are experiencing timing chain rattle, especially on startup, or if you're doing a timing chain replacement.

Ignoring a worn tensioner can lead to significant engine damage, potentially resulting in a complete engine rebuild.
