Genuine Nissan Synchro Ring - Nissan Patrol Y61 GU 1997-2017

This is a genuine Nissan synchronizer ring for first gear, located inside the manual gearbox assembly on Nissan Patrol Y61 GU models. This component is essential for matching the rotational speeds of the gear and the selector hub, allowing for smooth, positive engagement of first gear. A functioning synchro ring is critical for the overall health and performance of your transmission, particularly in a 4x4 that sees regular low-range work.

Over time and with hard use, the friction material on the synchro ring wears down. Common symptoms of a worn first gear synchro include a grinding or crunching sound when shifting, difficulty engaging the gear, or the transmission popping out of first gear. Replacing a failing synchro is a critical repair to restore gearbox function and prevent further damage to more expensive internal components.

Replacing a synchro ring is a complex and major workshop job that requires the complete removal and disassembly of the manual gearbox. When replacing internal gearbox components like this, it is strongly recommended to also replace all relevant seals, gaskets, and bearings. Fresh gearbox oil will be required for reassembly.
