This is a Genuine Nissan steering lock stop cap, designed as a direct-fit, heavy-duty replacement for the original cap on Nissan Navara D22 4WD models. It is fitted to the end of the steering lock stop bolt on the front steering knuckle, where it provides a crucial contact point against the lower control arm when the steering is at full lock. This part replaces the original plastic cap which is a known failure point.
The original plastic caps are prone to wearing down, becoming brittle with age, and eventually breaking or falling off. When this happens, the metal steering stop bolt makes direct contact with the lower control arm. This results in a loud and unpleasant clunking or grinding sound every time you turn to maximum lock, causing unnecessary and accelerated wear on your steering components.
