This is a Genuine Nissan 4WD switch motor, the critical electronic actuator that controls the engagement of the four-wheel-drive system in your Y62 Patrol. It is mounted directly on the rear of the transfer case on the passenger (LH) side, next to the rear output flange, allowing you to switch between 2WD, 4WD High, and 4WD Low.
Replacement is often required due to internal electronic failure, general wear, or water ingress from off-road use. Common symptoms of a faulty motor include a flashing 4WD warning light on the dash, an inability to shift into or out of 4WD, or grinding noises when attempting to change drive modes.
Please note that this is a delicate electronic component and should be handled with care; if dropped, replacement is recommended as per the manufacturer's instructions. Depending on the installation, you may also need to replace the transfer case fluid. Please consult your vehicle's workshop manual for the correct fluid type and procedure.
