Genuine Nissan Brake Light Pedal Switch (Car Won't Start) VK56 - Nissan Patrol Y62 & Navara D23

Brake Light Pedal Switch (Car Won't Start) - Nissan Patrol Y62 VK56 5.6L

Located on the brake pedal assembly inside the cabin, the Brake Light Pedal Switch is a critical component in your Nissan Patrol Y62. While its primary function is to activate the brake lights when you press the pedal, it also sends a crucial signal to the vehicle's computer system. In modern vehicles with push-button start, this signal confirms the brake is depressed, allowing the engine to start. If this switch fails, your vehicle may not recognise the command to start, leaving you stranded.

Ignoring a faulty brake light switch can lead to several serious issues. The most immediate risk for a Y62 owner is a no-start condition, as the ignition system will not engage without the brake signal. Additionally, a failed switch can result in your brake lights not working at all, creating a significant safety hazard on the road. Conversely, it can also fail in the 'on' position, leaving your brake lights constantly illuminated and draining your battery.
