Wheel Wobbles on Patrols
Patrol Wheel Wobbles - It is well documented that this issue presented on new vehicles under warranty. Contributing factors may include and/or be a combination of:
- Wheel balance
- Out of round tyres (as opposed to out of balance)
- Loose wheel bearings
- Insufficient castor
- Worn or urethane panhard bushes
- Worn drag link
- Adjustment of steering box
- Worn tie rod ends
- Cracked panhard mount at chassis
- Steering damper unserviceable
Therefore it is reasonable to assume that the above issues contribute to wheel wobbles and are not the underlying cause.
Usually a combination of the above faults being rectified fixes the issue.
